The Beacon of San Francisco

The Beacon of San Francisco

The Transamerica Pyramid Center is a symbol of the strength of San Francisco, encompassing an entire city block in San Francisco’s Financial District. Located in the most sought-after global gateway city in the world, the total site consists of three office buildings and one land parcel, totaling over 700,000 square feet.

At a height of over 850 feet, the Transamerica Pyramid is the third tallest pyramid on the planet. The illuminated beacon of the Transamerica Pyramid, also known as the “crown jewel”, is the most recognizable landmark in the San Francisco skyline. The Transamerica Pyramid was designed by famed architect William Pereira and completed in 1972. The building is now the second tallest building in San Francisco

With unobstructed views of the city, the building site is home to the cloistered Transamerica Redwood Park, featuring gathering spaces with towering redwood trees transplanted from the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains. The Transamerica Pyramid boasts a striking exterior brightly clad in white quartz, with over 3,000 windows. Unique in its form, the building allows for distinct floor plates that vary from over 20,000 square feet on the 6 th floor, to just 3,000 square feet at the top. In 2019, The Transamerica Pyramid Center was recertified LEED Platinum, the highest certification in environmental sustainability awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council.

SHVO acquired the Transamerica Pyramid in October of 2020 in the first ever sale of the property. SHVO will continue to operate and elevate the commercial and retail offering, with several hundred million dollars invested in furthering the building’s fame as one of the most iconic buildings in the world.
